FEBEA, ISB, GABV and the University of Florence are organising Finance Is Never Neutral: Bridging Research and Practice, an international conference on ethical and values-based finance, hosted by the University of Florence, in collaboration with Fondazione Finanza Etica and sponsored by Banca Etica.
Every financial decision shapes the world around us: which businesses grow, which communities access resources and which transitions become possible. This conference invites everyone passionate about alternative ways of doing finance to challenge assumptions, exchange experiences and help shape the field’s future.
Over three days, the conference will connect academic research with the knowledge of people working in ethical banks, financial institutions, policy organisations and civil society. The aim is meaningful exchange: testing ideas against real-world experience, learning from different perspectives and identifying practical ways forward.
Discussions will explore impact measurement, cooperative banking and stakeholder governance, financial inclusion, the green transition and emerging alternatives to conventional financial models.
Whether you research financial systems, work to change them or are simply enthusiastic about finance that puts people and the planet first, we encourage you to join the conversation.
The call for contributions welcomes more than academic papers. Researchers and practitioners can submit work in progress, reports, case studies, policy briefs, white papers and practice notes. Contributions that bridge research and institutional experience are particularly encouraged.
The submission deadline is November 29, 2026, find a direct link for submissions here.
