OUR CHARTER

Ethical banks' values

The FEBEA Charter, endorsed by all its members, offers 25 positive and concrete criteria gathered around 5 pillars, to define the characteristics and core values of an Ethical Bank. This constitutes the common reference point for all our members.

Money at the service of the common good

Ethical Finance reallocates its credit and other funds it collects to cultural, social and environmental projects. It promotes social inclusion, sustainable development, the Social Economy and Social Entrepreneurship.

The money of the citizens

Ethical finance collects its funds from citizens and rejects money from activities that it does not support. These include the arms industry, polluting industries or industries that damage civil society, money from illegal activities or from organised crime.

For a societal benefit

Ethical finance seeks to achieve a social, environmental and economic added value, all at the same time. That’s why it supports social economy activities, social entrepreneurship and the most vulnerable parts of the population, by promoting social inclusion and employment.

Ethical money management

Ethical banks condemn speculation through short-term financial transactions or investment in activities or countries that do not share their vision. They commit to channelling their entrusted funds into credit for financing the real economy.

Ethical bank management

Ethical bank profits are mainly reinvested in the promotion of the bank’s social objectives and capital remuneration may be limited. Transparency, collaborative management, strong territorial integration, ethical management of salaries and autonomy are basic principles of ethical finance.

publications

We monitor EU legislative developments and initiatives and advise them in the application procedures and in their relations with relevant institutions.

Services to members

Access to finance

The network facilitates different avenues of access to finance for members, both through public channels such as InvestEU, collaborations with the EIB, European projects, or the EIF, and through private exchanges among FEBEA members.

FEBEA enables members to exchange information and best practices. It serves as a hub for cooperation among regional and national networks of social economy and ethical finance across Europe and the EEA.

Exchange between the different actors of ethical finance across Europe is one of the network’s strengths. FEBEA offers its members the opportunity to learn about ethical finance’s realities all across Europe through a program of Study Visits.

FEBEA’s mission is to improve the visibility of Ethical Finance across Europe and represent its members before European institutions. We contaminate the message of alternative financial systems at the European level.

FEBEA advocates for ethical finance and serves as a key link between its members and European institutions such as the Commission, the EIB, the EIF, and other financial bodies. Its mission is to enhance the visibility of ethical finance across Europe and represent members before these institutions.

FEBEA offers a wide range of training programs, workshops, webinars, and, when required, technical assistance services to coach its members in the required areas. Many of these services are financed under SIFTA.

FEBEA partners with SIFTA and supports the implementation of its Capacity Building services: tailored training, investment readiness training, portfolio analysis & pipeline building and peer-to-peer training and study visit.

FEBEA actively participates in a variety of European funded projects across several programs such as ESF+, Erasmus+, COSME, LIFE, H2020, and more. We bring the perspective of ethically driven financial actors to many of these initiatives.
