RenoVisor project

RenoVisor is an EU-backed initiative to accelerate energy-efficient building renovations across Europe by developing and testing digital tools that simplify, democratize, and accelerate decarbonisation in the built environment.

Start date:

October 1, 2025

Finish date:

September 30, 2029

Project leader:

Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ)

Febea contact:

marion.leboulch@febea.org

Countries covered:

Spain, Ireland, Netherlands

The project will develop and pilot innovative digital tools – for single-family houses, multi-family co-owners, and energy communities – to make energy-efficient building renovation easier, fairer and more accessible to all. These tools will help users design tailored renovation pathways that consider technical, financial, and social aspects, while also supporting co-owned buildings through consensus-building features. Moreover, a special focus of the project is on energy and transport poverty, ensuring that vulnerable households can access affordable solutions that improve both energy efficiency and mobility.

RenoVisor tools will be tested in over 10,000 households across Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands, allowing for real-world insights into diverse social and climatic contexts. By guiding users from awareness to action, the project aims to significantly boost the rate of successful renovation decisions.

FEBEA's role and participating members

FEBEA is the leader of Task 1.4 “Financing guidelines”. A tailored toolbox will be created together with Comillas Pontifical University with the support from the pilots to provide personalised renovation pathways, subsidy matching and decision-support tools, including access to a finance component. The focus will be on ethical and alternative finance options to simplify the access to energy renovations.

Even if the main focus will be on Task 1.4, FEBEA will participate in all the 11 Work Packages of the project. A set of policy advice will be as well produced together with Energie Samen in relation to the renovation advisory tools for Single-Family Households, Multi-Family Households and Energy Communities. FEBEA members’ expertise in energy renovation financing will be a key asset for the project.

No FEBEA member is participating directly, but members with expertise on the topic and/or proximity to the pilots like Coop57, Fiare Banca Etica, Community Finance Ireland, GfG, TISE and GLS will be consulted.
